ring round the moon

saw this just before falling into bed last night.
in the viewfinder, the moon's markings were clear - sadly not in the actual photo. perhaps a long exposure & a tripod would have been better - maybe someone can help, as i saw wonderful pics of the eclipse but don't know how they were taken.

am going to be so busy today & tomorrow that may not even have time to publish a photo tomorrow, & probably no time to comment either, but i would like to say to all of you who take the time & trouble to comment & be supportive, (and to any new & random visitors!) have a wonderful, happy christmas. it's amazing & humbling to be part of this creative community - thank you.
