Harisen goes to the District Asembly

Today Harisen went to the District Assembly,in Mzimba, on invitation from the District Commisioner. We have continuing issues about Import Duty and more particularly in relation to pumps held in Customs since April.
Harisen's comprehensive report is as follows:

John,
I'm just coming from the meeting in Mzimba district where we had different Government Departments as well as Private sectors. I was with Chippi.

From Government there was Ministry of water, Health, Education, Labour, Community Development, Fisheries, Forestry. From the private sector, World Vision, Plan International, Action Aid and many more. This was at district level and it was for District Exective Officers.

There were lots of issues from each department more especially on the plans for the next year as well as how they have perfomed in this year.

We were given a chance to speak and Chipi was the one who spoke, and introduced St John of God's works and spoke about Wells for Zoe and the plans we have and the problems we have faced with the Revenue Authorities on the pumps which are to benefit the Rural Community.

Various Departments asked questions as to how they can work with us, and were concerned about the pump issue. They were all complimentary and impressed with what we are doing.

The good news is that the District Commisioner has writen a letter to MRA to accept the release of the pumps for duty free. and gave us the letter to send it to the MRA (Malawi Revenue Authority).

Regards
Harisen

This has been a significant day's work, both in terms of our exposure to the various ministries and the results achieved. Well done all round. What a team!!!
