Todays photo is of a lake not far from where I live which is starting to overflow due to the amount of rain we have had over the last week or so.

Where the tufts of grass are in the water, that is where we can normally walk.

It hasn't rained much today and hopefully, it will lessen in the next few days.

There is no flooding around here, but some of the towns in central Qld have been overwhelmed by floodwaters.

The news on TV tonight was absolutely heartbreaking. Most of the houses are single storey, and the water was almost up to the top of the windows. People were walking around up to their shoulders in muddy water.

The trouble with flood water is that once it has gone, there is all the mud and debris to get rid of and apparently the smell is awful.

I feel so sorry for these people, so close to Christmas too.
