The Weltempfänger T1000

A very different kind of T1000 from the Terminator kind.

My digital radio has proved to be rubbish here (it can find 8 channels and none of them are Test Match Special). And so this led to me trying to find a radio with Long Wave. Try explaining that to people - "I want to listen to the cricket from Australia, it starts at half past midnight and goes on until 8 in the morning. Yes, for 5 days. It's only on Long Wave."

Anyway I was very kindly loaned this beauty. It was made around the mid sixties and that makes it contemporaneous with me. I liked it a lot. Solid bit of kit, don't you think ? It has 3, count 'em, 3 aerials. Don't make them like that anymore.

Oh yes, there probably is a way to watch the cricket on the internet but I much prefer to hear it from Aggers & the team.

Anyway, England retained the Ashes today and I salute this radio for the part it played in proceedings.

Me? Old fashioned ? Nonsense.
