Empty Nest

Yesterday, I rushed off to spend the night at a friend's house. As I was leaving I happened to notice this nest in a tree by my home. I'm assuming it's empty now; most of the birds have gone south for the winter by this point.

Taking night images is hard for me. On one hand, I cannot hold the camera steady enough to take the image without the flash on, and give the amount of exposure needed. On the other hand, the flash gives the picture a completely different atmosphere. In this case, I think I like it with the flash on.
