The New Zealand Bellbird (Anthornis melanura) also known by its M?ori name Korimako is a passerine bird endemic to New Zealand. It has greenish coloration and is the only living member of the genus Anthornis. It has a bell-like song which is sometimes confused with that of the Tui. The species is common across much of New Zealand and its offshore islands as well as the Auckland Islands.

The bell bird suffered the decline of other native birds with the introduction of predators such as rats, cats, stoats, weasels etc, and food robbers which compete for honeydew and nectar e.g. wasps. However for unknown reasons the bell bird has made a recovery and is still reasonably common throughout NZ
