Lakeland Panorama

Scout Scar is a limestone ridge above Kendal and offers unparallelled views of the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and the fells to the North and East. This is popular with local walkers but tends to get passed by by the thousands of tourists en route to the heart of the Lake District. There was enough interesting light this afternoon of New Year's Day to clearly pick out the imposing, darkly brooding shapes of the Langdale Pikes to the right of frame (blessed momentarily with a faint ribbon of sunlight across their lower flanks) and beyond the snow dusted bulk of Bowfell (left) and Great Gable (centre).
