Fire Flies Jam Jar

I have made this for my daughter for Christmas. A small jar that could hold a Tiptree jam pot for the table, decorated with sgrafitto crazy bugs.

My method is this:- A few days after throwing the jar I cover the red earthenware leather-hard pot in white slip and then I cover this in black slip, when the pot is dry enough to touch I can scratch through to the white below to make a mark, in this case the drawings were then coloured in with pink slip.
