Balvaird Castle, near Falkland

Don't know if any of you in UK shop in Aldi, if you do you will know about their Sunday and Thursday deals. Today's deal was ski gear, snow boots for kids, thermal underwear and gloves. We arrived dead on 10am this morning and there was already a scrum down by the cages with the stuff in it. We did come away with what we went for, all at amazingly low prices compared to the shops selling similar (named) gear. One lady I saw had a big trolley piled high with the stuff - not sure how many she was shopping for.

Then took Breagha a walk up the golf course, she ran about like a crazed beast and then the smell must have been pulling her towards it, because next thing I knew she was rolling in something smelly, either fox or deer droppings. The smell was unbelievable so she was soaped and washed down 2 times, but still the smell was there! She hates getting washed, and must wonder "why on earth are they subjecting me to this torture"!

Went for a run (minus Breagha unfortunately smell in car would be unbearable) and ended up at this small castle (Balvaird) near Falkland. The path up to it was treacherous with hard packed ice so after reading about it (built in the early 1500s) we came down by the adjoining field. Then on for a warming drink in a nearby farm/cafe Pillars of Hercules.

My daughter was looking forward to a trip tonight to see We will Rock You in Edinburgh which she bought tickets for a couple of months ago. Turns out that the tickets are for 1 year's time 2 Jan 2012! Do they really sell tickets this far in advance?? Disappointed? - Very!
