M/V Sardinella

This is the research ship of the university where I studied Marine Fisheries and Oceanology, the M/V Sardinella.

I was on-board when it undertook its first voyage as a research vessel back in 1992. My graduating class went to Ormoc Bay (Leyte Province, Philippines) to do oceanographic studies on the bay. The data gathered were part of the study on the environmental impacts of the disastrous flash-floods that hit the island in November, 1991.

Now it is docked, no longer in use.

(I took the photo in the middle of a two-way street. Not a few drivers looked at me askance, probably wondering what the hell I was doing, standing in the middle of a relatively busy street.)
