SLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE

This is the ice slide down by the Songhua River. The 'castle' at the top and the slide itself are made completely from ice. The blocks are cut from the frozen river. It is lit up at night but I will have to take my tripod down the get a nice pic. And its bloody cold down there.

There are 4 different slides. The longest is about 80-90 metres long. Only one of them gets any real speed up but every time someone goes down, there are the obligatory blood curdling screams. For the two slots on the left, people sit on small bags. On the right two, they use small sleds which go much faster. The space in the middle is where they drag the bags and sleds back to the top by rope.

VERY low tech.. and a lot of fun.... but that's China. The people here derive great pleasure from simple things.
