The Gerken Building

Formerly the NY National Exchange Bank, now an expensive residential building. I went searching for some information on this building, but didn't find all that much. I did find an article from 1877 about a bank heist that took place there. Apparently security is different nowadays, but back then, it took 2 men, 1 to distract the teller, and the other to walk in, steal $2,750 and walk out. The article pointed out how professional these particular thieves were. Hmm.
