Fourth Day, Baden and Mayerling

Today we had a choice to stay in Vienna to explore the city a bit more but instead we decided to take advantage of the tour organized to the nearby villages of Baden and Mayerling. It was really worth it, despite the limited time we had at our disposal. The two towns were truly beautiful as was the walk we took in the woods near Mayerling. It was late in the afternoon when we returned to Vienna.

Today we decided to make our own choices regarding food as so far the arrangements made by the tour organizers were really disappointing to say the least! So we went to the same pub as we had gone the evening before and had some really amazing food with a few really good beers.

In the evening we had booked tickets for a classical concert (Mozart and Strauss) at Palais Palffy in the center of the city. A small room, with mostly tourists in the audience, but it was a really good experience.

So far in this trip we have been amazed at the numbers of Greeks we were encountering. Apparently there has been a record number of flight bookings to Vienna. Still we were able to escape all of them when we found a rather small Irish Pub quite by accident which turned out to be the oldest Irish Pub in Vienna (the Bockshorn)! A few pints of Guinness really hit the spot :-)
