The beginning of the end

of any visibility whatsoever. This is Kansas at the start of the surprise blizzard I drove through to get home for Christmas. In this image, the snow hasn't even started falling; it is being blown across the road and into the sky by -20 degree, 35 mph wind gusts. I had no idea what was to come in the next several hours... unplowed roads, dozens of car accidents (including a 40-car pile-up that resulted in at least 3 deaths and the closing of 40 miles of Interstate 70), and a trip that would take 7 hours longer than normal to complete. I suppose I am quite lucky that I made it home at all.

Ha. I love Kansas.
