EVERGREEN OAKS

Evergreen oaks are magnificent trees. I don't know how old these are but there is one at the big villa which is about 400 years old and forms a canopy over an entire courtyard. This is wonderful in summer but a bit mossy and dank in the winter. The moss on these trees really is that vibrant chartreuse green and it is growing on the south side of the trees thus disproving the accepted wisdom that moss only grows on the north sides. Pic not even cropped.

These are near the church, now rarely used, just above the cemetery, the one called "the hotel" because people can only be buried there for ten years, then their bones must be removed by relatives to make space for new arrivals.

For the record: Rain all night and much of the morning. It is + 13C again and feels like spring. Remo, the builder said, "The rain stops on Wednesday" meaning for more than one day. A quick check on the internet showed that he might be right. Woot! I was up until 4:30 this morning on a chat line with somebody from PhotoShop because the type tool is frozen. In the end, he didn't know how to fix it. Awake again at 7:30, riddled with anxiety because I have to do a new oil label and need the type tool. Disinstalled PhotoShop, reinstalled it. Fixed. Clouded over by 2:30, the rain hasn't given up yet.
