All work and no play

I sat in the dining room beside the Christmas racing cars all day, typing and speaking on the phone. I've had better days.

Then before tea we went to the library with the children's cards and came home with 15 books. Eileen had ordered some "birds of prey" books for Malcolm and as soon as he walked in she had them ready for him. He was delighted. The others were dead keen to use the self-scan machine so we stood for ages helping them use the supposed queue-buster. Of course it took much longer than using the normal desk but all good fun.

We had a brief conversation with the librarians about how libraries would never happen if they were just thought of today. They laughed at the idea, but the radio news tonight was about library closures in Oxfordshire. 800 libraries may close it seems. The cost of everything and the value of nothing.

Back to school tomorrow and Duncan has an appointment at the Edinburgh Dental Hospital, so we'll be chasing about. Katie has made cakes for her nursery class so she's looking forward to it. Gordon's missed his pals, especially Mikey, so he's excited too.

Now some ironing and a documentary I think.
