C is for conservative

What with yesterday's tragedy being at the forefront of our minds, and with the avalanche warning being 4 out of 5 (high risk), we enjoyed a very conservative morning playing around the sides of the pistes.

Which was just fine with everyone.

We saw a few thrill seekers testing the stability of some dangerous looking slopes, but no further incidents have occurred.

I inadvertently skied the whole morning in 'walk mode', which softens the flex of the ski boot for skinning, but isn't that great for skiing. Which may explain why my skiing was a bit rubbish today.

Anyway, we skied fluffy powder which had accumulated quite nicely in places, but was a little wind blown in others.

I gather from OnTheSnow.com that Val d'Isere is way behind other resorts in terms of snow depth. Apparently more than a meter has fallen in Chamonix recently, "creating waist deep powder" !!! Sounds terrifying.
