Flame Test #4

Maybe one more flame test tomorrow and then a break for a few years..!

On the list are more chemical reactions and objects burning - magnesium attempted today with some success but hard to capture.

They are serving as a record of experiments at school that I can use to supplement presentations and as a teaching resource so there is a benefit apart from providing my blip.

Many funny and interesting comments have been received that indicate that school still holds a powerful influence over people, even having left some decades ago.

We were talking to pupils today who are leaving this year - they are itching to go but also aware that as soon as they're gone they might miss it.

Yesterday was lithium nitrate

Today it's strontium nitrate - sorry to blow the suspense. You will not be surprised to hear that it's used as a colourant in pyrotechnics.

New discovery today - Nikon D40's don't allow AEB - this dramatic news comes from a search of the web. Some users upgraded their cameras as a result of this - could I use the same excuse.
