This Old House

Took a trip out to Newhailes today: although the house itself is closed during the winter, there are some good walks around the grounds, so the kids could run around like exuberant labradors. In fact they had to - it was blimmin' freezing.

We'd never visited before, even though we used to live just a few miles from here. I thought it was because you often never visit the places in your own back yard - but it seems they only opened it to the public in 2002, at about the same time that we moved away from the area.

Still, we're not taking the hint. We'll definitely go back.
