Snapping Aboot

From Union Bridge

Aberdeen. In the low winter sunlight, parts of three of Belmont Street's iconic buildings ( the former Congregational Kirk, Trades Hall & the soaring Triple Kirks Spire ) appear at first glance to merge into one cathedral-sized entity ... well sort of, if you ignore the fact that one is sandstone, one granite and one brick-clad :-) Different materials, different styles yet they somehow manage to sit side-by-side naturally, although none now serve their original purpose.

Property developer Stewart Milne has plans to add a speculative development consisting of a trio of glazed offices around the spire which his PR claims will respect the site and preserve the views ... you can have a look at the proposals here and see what you think and, if you feel inclined leave some comments on his website.

P.S. The Triple Kirks proposal even gets a mention in this week's issue of Private Eye.
