Log splitter in action

I varied my exercise route today and came upon this couple splitting wood using a log splitter. The wood pieces were destined for a little top loading wood stove, so they had to be small. The machine had a very quiet little motor and did a very handy job.

I have just acquired 2 cords of fir and could really use a machine like this. Every night in the basement I am chopping wood for my own wood stove. I try to think of it as exercise, but it would be really nice to get it all chopped at once, like this.

It was a great day with lots of sunshine. A wonderful change from the rain clouds of January.
