I bought this Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) plant about 3/4 years ago. It hasn't really done anything except grow taller and taller. I put it out in the garden last summer and brought it back inside when the weather turned cold and it has since been standing in the corner of the living room, unnoticed. Imagine my surprise when I spotted that it had produced a flower! Sadly it doesn't look like the flower is going to open fully as it has already started to wither - but I will be giving it a bit more TLC from now on.
