Doon by the Brig o' Doon

That at the Lord's house, ev'n on Sunday,
Thou drank wi' Kirkton Jean till Monday.
She prophesied that, late or soon,
Thou would be found deep drowned in Doon;
Or catched wi' warlocks in the mirk,
By Alloway's auld haunted kirk.

Tam O'Shanter, 1790

Was visiting relatives in Ayrshire today, so thought I'd take the chance to revisit Alloway, the birthplace of Rabbie Burns, whose birthday 252 years ago will be celebrated across the world on Tuesday. The village was absolutely heaving with people, many of them visiting the recently-opened Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. I took this shot of the Brig o' Doon from about 150 yards, on the newer road bridge across the River Doon.
