Surprise Encounter

Mimus, the common Mockingbird, known for it's skill to mimick other bird, insect and amphibian sounds.

Much to my delight, after I captured this image, the bird began to sing. A strange kind of guthral chirping. It was familiar, but i didn't take much notice until a similar sound answered! After about 30 minutes of sporatic exchanges, a little green tree frog emerged from under a rock near my foot!

Odd, because it was fairly cold, but the mockingbird must have learned it's song in the spring season of frog love...too much temptation to ignore. (I was just thankful the mockingbird didn't come swoop down and eat it!)
