Rice Rice Baby...

Rice is very important to the Vietnamese economy and involves more than 50% of the working population. Rural Vietnam is in many ways similar to what it would have been centuries ago; Women in conical hats, (non bai tho) irrigating fields by hand, farmers stooping to plant the flooded paddies and water buffalo ploughing seed beds with harrows.

This was in one of the markets in Can Tho. We'd been on a boat around the floating markets early this morning (I'll blog those pics at some point). Lots to see and really really fascinating.

Just managed to blip this and yesterday's before catching an overnight train to Nha Trang. Beach time next and fingers tightly crossed for a dive too! Looking forward to that :-)

NB. My thanks to my travel buddy, Vic for the title on this blip!! Her mum and dad (reading this! - Hi!!) will be so proud!!
