White & Blue, Corralejo

Our last full day on the Fuertoventura. We took to the road again, initally to resume our search for that wreck (The American Star) on the West coast.
On our way there I spotted this spidery congregation of lifting THINGUMMIES, like a Sci Fi set. This time we found the beach, Playa de Garcia (I think), by following a rocky dirt track for a couple of miles, till we arrived at a wild stretch of coast, ashy volcanic black sand and huge restless waves. Despite the very precarious drive (about 10mph) we met quite a few cars heading back on the same track. I suspect the place is a favourite for surfers and/or kids looking for a semi-private place to party; a lot of abandoned plastic bottles and cans testified to this. No sign of the wreck, which may well have finally succumbed to that wrecking-ball ocean, or perhaps it lay just around the corner in the next cove. No matter; there were some nice things to shoot, including ROCKS and CLOUDS.

Later we headed back up north again, to the tourist town of Corralejo, near which I took the pic above. I had noticed this dune before, the way people appeared as dark ants on its bright surface, and that wedge of white hotel, like a remnant of civilisation in some distopian futurist movie.

On the way back to our apartment we saw yet another great SUNSET.
