Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'

This tall perennial grass has bright green leaves that have unusual, horizontal light yellow bands. This stripy, zebra effect gives Miscanthus sinensis ?Zebrinus? it?s cultivar name.

Pink tinged flowers are produced in autumn but only if the summer has been long and hot.

Cut down the spent shoots of Miscanthus sinensis ?Zebrinus? in early spring before the new shoots appear.

This plant is suitable for growing on heavy clay soil.

A graceful fountainous grass that takes its name from the horizontal cream bands on the leaves. Striking silky finger-like flowers bloom in late summer and stay for months giving this plant dramatic winter presence. Use as a specimen or in small groups at the back of a perennial border.

Garden care: Cut down to the ground in late winter before the new foliage appears.

Had Zebra grass for a few years and the plant is healthy, it is time for the seed heads to appear. Macro showing newly opened seed pod, liked the texture which is why i chose this for today's Blip.

Hope you all having a great weekend, thanks for dropping by:-)
