Watching

Not much public art in Atlanta, but this statue stands near the entrance to the Underground shopping mall, just around the corner from the loft.

They were resurfacing the road in front of him for the last year, and just finished up and cleared out the barricades from that a couple of months ago. Now that it's clear, I've been meaning to find a shot of him.

I like the way he seems so separate from everything - always watching, never participating. It's the perfect metaphor for what it feels like living in a large city - so many people walking by, and I don't know a thing about any of them.
