These attractive small thrushes are winter visitors here. They are very mobile: when they first arrive in the autumn they feed on berries but by now there are none left so they switch to ground-feeding. They are usually in farmland but sometimes in towns, for example there are often large flocks on rugby or football pitches. I was quite surprised to see this chap feeding in the leaf litter by the stream near our office when I went out for some fresh air today.
