Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox

As part of their marketing redwood trees in Northern California, a roadside attraction features these huge carvings? of Paul Bunyan, a legendary woodsman in America, with Babe his ox pet. The sign below Babe says it's 35' (about 10m) to the tips of his horns. You can also see the streetlight and trash receptacle for scale.

It was too difficult to blip the actual redwood giants. One, called the Founders Tree, is 304' (almost 100m) tall. As you look up the trunk, you see the branches begin far in the distance; what you can't see from the ground are all the branches rising an equal height above that. Recommend you read Preston's The Wild Trees about this subject.

Groundhog failed to see his shadow today due to severe blizzards, so winter's over.
