Kirkstall Abbey ruins

A glorious (but cold) day: went for a climb and explore at Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds. Was lucky enough to get several really good shots of the main part of the Abbey against bare trees wnd blue sky, but in the end, after much deliberation, this shot won out.

I like the balance and the sense that the line of stones are leading you on somewhere: in reality they lead you to the river Aire.

The stones themselves are the remaining footings of the Abbey outbuildings, where many children (including mine) climb, despite the sign urging you not to....
