Running Away With the Circus

I'm confused by this spider's elongated body, and by the beautiful long orange and brown stripes. It's too bad they don't show up in the image! For awhile I thought that maybe it was eating something long and striped--there was definitely a lot of jaw motion--but really it was hard to see. I was leaning over with one foot in the vegetable bed, trying to will my weight from crushing the soft delicious dirt. Not quite as upside down as the spider itself, but awkward, and wishing that I wasn't shaking the camera so badly. I was hoping this would be one of those images that reveals something my eye had missed, but I'm not scientist enough to find it if it's there.
