Paris Architecture 2--Gobelins

This is the main facade of the Manufacture des Gobelins, in Paris's 13th arrondissement, which has served the French as a royal factory for the making of tapestries since the late 17th century (along with a second one established in Beauvais). As far as I can determine, the building dates from just prior to 1700.

Exactly a year ago, we attended a wonderful exhibition of Louis Quatorze's collection of tapestries in this building; the year-ago blip shows one of the huge, lavish galleries.

Paris Architecture 1 depicts contemporary buildings--also with brick.
