A Fine Bed for a Cat

We spent some time this afternoon putting together the new guest bed we ordered a couple of weeks ago from John Lewis to go in our visitors' bedroom.

Kitkat at first decided to try and 'help' us, but soon - realising perhaps that her paws were no match for the demands of Pozidriv screwdrivers and Allen keys - she retreated to this pile of materials that we recovered last week from the old divan bed that used to be in the room.

The mottled fabric at the bottom of the pile is quite amazing, made up of thousands of tiny shreds of a huge variety of old textiles. I'm still considering if and how we might use it as an extra bit of loft insulation. But Kitkat decided that the white artificial fibre sheet you see on top of this pile was her ideal form of cat bedding...
