Gated

I love the architecture in San Francisco, but so very much of it has been altered over the years with gates at the front entrances. So, so many glorious entranceways have been "defaced" with the additions of these gates. While I can appreciate the desire (and need, sometimes) to keep the homeless from gaining access to apartment buildings (a fire was started in our building a few years ago by a homeless person heating up food in the basement), it really takes so much away from the beauty of a great many buildings.
