Coastguard protest

Seventy people gathered at the Stornoway Coastguard station to protest against the proposed closure of the station. The Chief Executive of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency was due to hold talks with coastguards, and a mixture of staff, concerned members of the public and trade-union representatives gathered to voice their disapproval. The turn-out was good, considering the appalling weather at the time.
