Siddick Ponds

Siddick Ponds, near Workington, is probably one of the best wetlands in England. There is one freshwater and one tidal saltwater lagoon. You may be lucky enough to see a gold crest ( weighing no more than a 20p ) seeking sanctuary in the reed beds of West Cumbria. Or, you might catch a glance of an elusive booming bittern. 171 species of birds have been spotted here. In the background you might be able to see ASDA, and several wind turbines. The Solway is just a quarter of a mile away...this is a good place to visit, and do the weekly shop. This blip was taken this morning in a howling gale and pouring rain! Chloe enjoyed the walk!
