Currently on loan to the National Museum of Scotland, this full-size mock-up of the Gemini spacecraft was used in the 1962 Paraglider Landing System Program to test the feasabilty of using a paraglider wing to bring the two-man spaceraft back to Earth instead of an ocean splashdown with parachutes.

These tests were conducted at Edwards Air Force base in California as one of two vehicles dropped from helicopters after which the wings were deployed as part of a controlled descent.

NASA donated this Test Tow vehicle to The Smithsonian in 1975.
