Setup

I had fun today!

That's a surge-protected Antec multiplug extension* powering a Billion 5200 in bridge mode** and a Netgear WNR2000v2*** running dd-wrt****. And my new lappy, which I get to linuxify tomorrow.

And a carved mask thing we got from Fiji in the background, but who cares about that.

* These things are nifty, but don't look too good when they're still tied together.

** Pondering DHCP+passthrough, actually, because isn't that essentially bridge mode but better? Let the modem do the modem's job...

*** Note to self: Actually read up on compatibility with things like dd-wrt to a greater extent than "Oh, it's supported". As in: get a router with 8MB flash***** next time!

*** I've called it minilisk, because it totally looks like a miniature black obelisk.

**** Grah, 30/30/30 resets. Most annoying thing ever.

***** They're still rather expensive, though. Some people've made it into a Consumer Freedom thing - buy 8MB and above routers so consumers have the choice to flash full-featured alternative firmware.
