the arboretum opened in 1840...

i went for a walk around the lovely arboretum, it's 170 years old. at first the entrance was threp pence except for wednesday afternoon and sunday afternoons, when the working classes were able to have free time to do something of leisure. later i saw this newspaper hording juxtaposed with the sweet shop. and what of history, what of present. in 170 years there might have been great progress, but how have we evolved ? i like to go for walks that stretch more than my legs.
