Las Tortugas

This is the fountain in the centre of Plaza del Rey Juan Carlos I, the square in Palma named after the king. However, it is more commonly known as 'Plaza de las Tortugas' (Square of the Tortoises) in honour of the four bronze figurines who appear to effortlessly support the weight of the 40ft obelisk in the middle of the fountain.

It is a place alive at all hours, especially on a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon. The four tortoises sit and watch as the world passes by in a blur.
