A Gloops Medal.

When I was looking in a box recently, that had belonged to my Mother, among all the other bits and pieces was this Gloops Medal.
It had belonged to my Uncle who was born in 1920 and died in 1934 of Diphtheria. I think he was awarded it in 1930.
Gloops was a cartoon cat in the local newspaper, the Evening Chronicle, and in 1929 the Gloops Club was formed with a membership of over 100,000.
The children were asked to do a good deed every day, and medals were given for bravery, caring etc, and of course achievement.
I don't know what he achieved, but my Uncle would have been very proud of this medal. They didn't have much when they were children, so he would have cherished it, as his Sister did, keeping it all her life.
