Basic & Effective

Well, I am in Grosmont in North Yorkshire today, wandering the moors whilst the better half enjoys a girlie weekend.

Because of the rain I decided to take out the compact Fuji. Ever noticed how "simple" can be more effective? These 1930s level crossing gates do not forgive mistakes, made from solid wood and metal rods, once closed you are going nowhere! Again, modern construction tends to be bland and boring, I love the way that some of the technology from the past which operates on levers & pulleys is cheaper, more reliable and more "tactile" than the modern, unreliable kit we see causing visual vandalism all around us.
