Learning day by day

By EmmaF

Oh what a day...

A fantastic day with my Minnie. So great to spend some quality time with Carys and time that she knows I chose to spend with her rather than time that she thinks of as, that which I have to spend with her, eg. Tues and Wed afternoons when Will is at Tina's and we have regular 'Big Girl' time.

Aviva Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham (Granny saw us on the telly). She loved the athletics, still wants to be a running girl, hurdle and beat the boys! How do I control her competitive nature? Wonder where she gets it from? She was probably the only 3.5year old to complete or should that be 'compete' in the UKathletics academy awards (standing long jump, high stepper, balance, beanbag throw and bunny hop). She is now officially on Step 1 of her journey to athletic prowess. To celebrate she went round showing off her achievement to more well known athletes while persuading them to to sign her certificate.

Those who succumbed to her charms signed were:
Kate Dennison: British Pole Vault record Holder
Martyn Rooney:World 400m semi-finallist and 4x400m silver medallist
Martyn Bernard: Commonwealth High Jump Silver Medallist 2006, 9th in 2008 Olympics
Helen Clitheroe: Commonwealth 1500m Bronze Medallist 2002, 37, and just run a PB in the 3000m by 11seconds (my hero of the day despite Mo smashing the British 5k record) and so lovely with it.
Joice Maduaka: 19 medals at the British Champs over 100m/200m, in her final season at 38.
Stacey Smith: Little known athelete who now has the qualifying for Paris and the European Indoors. Carys' Mummy and Granny have known Stacey since she was at school and in the Northumberland Schools Team. Really pleased for you Stacey, don't forget us when you are famous!

Ps. Daddy and William had a good boys day and both survived the swimming lesson. Daddy also managed to get Will to sleep tonight without milk. Jim you are a star.
