Red, beyond doubt is the most favourite color of the city of Kolkata...red creeps into everything here, including politics, religion and culture...so shooting something red on the last day in the city was natural...yes, the 10-day vacation comes to an end...or let me correct myself, I still have a couple of hours to go. This trip was really good...there was so much packed in these 10 days...it came to an end just as I started savouring the vacation...with a wedding, a puja at home packed, among other things, I didn't get quite get a chance to go out an a photowalk in the city. Not that I am regretting it though. This trip anyways was more about family time than anything else. Though initially there were plans to dine out yesterday but again, family time took precedence...nothing really can beat a good meal prepared at home with everyone enjoying it together...India's first match in the cricket world cup this year also contributed to us staying indoors.

It was my brother's birthday today and it was great all of us being together to celebrate it together. He was with family on his birthday after about 10 years. A small chocolate cake was cut in the morning, it was just a formality though. All of us being under the same roof on this day was far more important than any other celebration.

He is also going back today. His flight is scheduled to take off a couple of hours earlier than ours. We went downstairs to see him off. As his taxi left, we turned around to back upstairs. Mom stood there, her gaze following the taxi, till it disappeared around the corner of the street. A couple of hours later, she would be standing in front of the same gate again, watching yet another taxi disappear around the same corner.
