Dumbarton Ramble

Having a rare day off with my friend Sharon, we decided to walk along the canal/cycle paths between Bowling and Dumbarton. The weather was kind enough not to rain, but it was a little bitter outside.

We eventually reached the Castle and walked around the base of Dumbarton Rock, looking at graffiti written on the rock face and the view over the Clyde. We found climbing gear lodged in the crag walls and Sharon mentioned that the sheer face of the rock has ratings of Chemin de Fer (E5) and Requiem (E7 7a), only the able and strong need apply.

The Governors House is located just inside the main entrance of the Castle,it was built in the mid-18th century, from the view we had today it looked like the bow of a ship. The photo doesn't really do the view much justice.
