St Mary's, Battersea

I've been passing this church most days for the last 8 months. It's usually a hive of activity. I think there's maybe a play-school there as some mornings I have to duck and dive between the Chelsea tractors parking up in front of it.

I haven't been inside it yet, but wikipedia tells me William Blake was married there and that Turner painted the Thames from its vestry window. Scott of the Antarctic, who lived on the other (Chelsea) side of the river, also had links to St Mary's.

What surprised me was (according to wiki - and I'm too busy to check further) that this area (Battersea Village) was once officially in Surrey but is now firmly in London.
