The Old Apple Tree

Our house is built on the site of an old apple orchard. We are lucky enough to have, what I think, is the last remaining tree from that time. I don't know that it can have been a very successful orchard though, the apples that come from the tree are very tasteless! It's not a particularly large tree, but the year before last we counted the harvest, and much to my amazement registered 3,000 apples in one season!
Of course the blossom is fantastic, and should provide a blip or two within the next month or so, but it's one of those "blink and you'll miss it" type events, the blossom is not usually around for very long at all. So begins the next cycle of life.......roll on summer!!
