From Snowdrop Valley

A visit today to the Snowdrop Valley on Exmoor where Benedictine monks had introduced snowdrops in the 13th Century. Planted as flowers to celebrate Candlemas Day on 2nd February, they were traditionally sold in the local market at that time. Now protected, of course. Drifts of snowdrops follow the river banks on this hidden valley which is closed the public and to traffic during the flowering period.
