This one hurt...

Tip: If you decide to shoot directly up a basketball hoop and you have to rely on the shooting accuracy of an eleven-year-old boy, - wear some protective gear. Like a helmet. And Kevlar. Full-body armour, too.

All was going well with my goal of attaining the shot above. I'd frame the shot, Eric would count "1-2-3" and shoot, I would fire and then immediately swat the ball away before it smashed into my camera and face.

Good plan, right?

Not so much. Forgot to take into account that wet courts make wet balls, which can slip out of small hands. This then flattens the expected arc of flight and sends the ball directly into the side of photographers head, glasses, and DSLR rig.

Result: Facial cuts, bruised nose, rampant profanity, and one scared kid hiding in the bushes...

Final Result: Lots of "ohms", hugging kid, and getting back under the net to nail the damn shot!
